Our Coffee
It all started in Ethiopia where the Coffee bushes were growing wild. The story goes that a goat herder found his goats bleating deliriously, eating a red cherry-like fruit from an unfamiliar bush.
Eventually the people of the region realised it was the 'seed' or bean inside the fruit that held a certain uplifting magic.
Today Ethiopia produces some excellent raw bean and we are proud to stock the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. A medium roasted, fruity coffee with a smooth finish, this is a beauty.
Maybe you would prefer to travel to Indonesia for the complex, full-bodied Sumatran Gayo River.
We also have some great blends including the heavy dark, five bean espresso blend called Black Silk.
Or perhaps the creaminess of the excellent Colombian Tacueyo is more your style.
A must try is the superbly balanced Guatemalan Manila - a single farm, high altitude coffee.
We are also big supporters of Ethical growing & supply systems including Direct Trade, Community Coffee, Rainforest Alliance and Fairtrade.
Watch out in November because the ever exciting Bolivian Coffees will be seasonally available again.
Our Tea
Australia is not exactly famous for being a great tea producing region, yet our many quality estates yield distinctive, earthy, medium strength tea.
Mostly grown around the Daintree Forest area, we at Unearthed stock an extensive range of blends and premium single estate varieties from this region.
You should not pass up the opportunity to try the Australian Breakfast blend, or maybe Daintree w/ Lemon Myrtle for something a little more adventurous.
N.B. Billy Tea is thought to have been discovered when a Eucalyptus leaf accidentally fell into a swagman's mug of black tea.
After trying all the Aussie teas perhaps you could start your Chai Tea journey. We stock four varieties of Chai.
Chinese White Tea is currently all the rage in the western world. The lowest in tannin and highest in anti-oxidants of all the tea processes, Pai Mu Tan is a subtle, pure delight.
Perhaps you wish to stimulate your taste buds with previously unchartered blends. The French Earl Grey is an aromatic gem, as too the exotic Arctic Fire. If green tea is your cup of choice then Morning Dew will wow you with its fruitiness.
