The name of this tea derives from the Russian gypsies, who would travel around in their “caravans” and collect different tea in their travels. It is in fact the country of Georgia that grew, and still grows, black tea, but very few Russian Caravan blends contain tea from this part of the world. Most commonly these days Russian Caravan will be a mixture of Indian, Keemun, and a hint of Lapsang Souchong.
